From drama to victory
After dominating the weekend so far, it nearly ended in tears for Sverre in the first corner of the A-final. But thanks to a tremendous effort by the team, the only tears that were shed today was tears of joy after yet another convincing victory.
After winning the timed practice and both his heats, Sverre secured pole position for the A-final. He had a great start and led as the pack entered the first corner. That could have been the end of his race. As they entered the corner, Sverre was hit by a competitor, and after a massive four car crash, involving Sverre, Liam Doran, Kenneth Hansen and Andréas Eriksson, Liam and Sverre both had extensive damage to their cars. The final was stopped with the red flag, and the cars removed with recovery vehicles. The teams were given 15 minutes to get their cars back on the track.
- At one point I must have had 50 people working under, over and inside my car. It was insane! The team did amazing work though, and actually had my car running in 12 minutes, said Sverre after the race.
Back on track in time for the restart, Sverre was as eager as ever to get away from the pack. He had another great start, and from there he was never threatened.
This is Sverre’s fourth win of the season, and perhaps the most dramatic one. He extended his lead in the championship and is now at 121 points, 16 more than Kenneth Hansen who with his second place today pushed Michael Jernberg down to third in the standings.
